Today, many engineering courses and many engineering colleges are waiting for you to choose. So selecting an engineering course and selecting an engineering college is a difficult & time consuming process. For a better future both are very important, especially correct college.

1. Choose of your course first

Currently, I am working as an engineer with 7 years of experience. Many parents discuss with me about their children’s higher education. I never propose any courses to them on the first meet. I prefer to discuss with the children who are going to study. Apart from job opportunities it is must to know their interest. Surprisingly many of the students “I don’t have any idea bro, please suggest me”. Many of our parents grow their students like this, this is so wrong. We find them the field of interest when they grow.

Suppose if they haven’t any interest in a particular field then parents/mentors help them choose the right engineering course. So the first step is “Choosing the right engineering course”

2. Check the college availability for your marks

Once you have fixed your engineering course then you should focus on “selecting best engineering college”. Please take a list of engineering colleges where your course is available. Your cut off mark will say whether you can get an engineering seat on the particular engineering college or not. So list out the engineering college by your priority before attending the engineering counselling.

3. How much your family can spend for your education

Everyone prefers to get an engineering seat in a government engineering college. But if you don’t have a enough engineering cut off mark then it is impossible. If you have a good cut off mark then you can avail engineering seats in top private colleges. If you don’t have good cut off marks then your only option to get a seat in a good engineering college is “Management Quota”. But your parents are willing to pay some amount additionally for getting a seat in management quota. So think of your family when you select your engineering college.

4. Don’t get confused at last minute

I had a good experience in engineering counselling. I discussed with my relatives and finalized to select “Civil Engineering” course. Me and my father went to Chennai to attend engineering counselling. We took engineering seat vacancy details for our pre-confirmed engineering colleges. Around 9 PM one friend of my father called and suggested: “Please take Electronics and Communication Engineering”.

Finally, we selected an “ECE” course in that particular college. Now I am working in a good company with a good salary. But this will not happen to all. So please make a decision at once and don’t get confused at the last minute.

5. Don’t believe in College Name

Some of the engineering colleges have attractive names but don’t believe in that. Name is just a name. So, always do a little research about the college and choose them.

Don’t make any decision by seeing an advertisement or reading a review on the internet. Any college can make these two spend by spending some money. Always do a little research by yourself to select a good engineering college. Once you select some list of colleges, check whether your relatives are already studying at these colleges. If anyone studies then “It’s your luck”, please ask them about the college and finalize your decision.
